Back from dead with a new look

After a long time away from the blog I am reviving it again with new look and some new posts.

While I was away, things in camera world have been moving along with new camera releases from Nikon, Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic and Sony. Nikon finally introduced their long anticipated APS-C action flagship D500 with amazing AF capabilities, tilting screen, 4K video recording and a touchscreen. While Fuji jumped to 24 megapixel sensor with the introduction of X-Pro 2 and X-T2. Fuji also became serious about video recording with the inclusion of 4K video recording in X-T2.

Sony introduced A6500 APS-C camera with 5-Axis in-body stabilization and touchscreen, a first for their APS-C mirrorless cameras. Olympus and Panasonic both continued to release refresh of their mid-tier camera line up. Olympus also released PEN-F, their first camera with the new 20 megapixel micro 4/3 sensor first seen in Panasonic Gx8. There have been other releases as well such as Canon G7X Mark II, Sony V and Sony RX100 III.

Overall, despite the shirking market cameras have not been wiped out by cellphones (yet) and manufacturers continue to work hard for their piece of the pie.

  1. Glad to see you back buddy! As a Nikon shooter will you be getting the D500? Seems like the best APS-C camera on the market now, should work great for your BIF photography (and kids :).

    • Thank you Oleg.

I have been intrigued by Nikon D500 since it was announced but I have not yet given into temptation :). For now I’m keeping myself planted in the mirrorless world with Fuji X-T2. Maybe in future if I come across a great deal, I might give it try.
